A midnight surprise in Binodpur

Say your husband turns 40 on a weekday and you live near MJM Mahila College in Binodpur. You book the 11 PM slot and keep him busy at your cousin's place for an hour. Meanwhile the decorator turns the bedroom black and silver. You walk back in just before twelve, the cake you ordered is on the table, and he gets his birthday photo the minute the date changes.

Birthday planning in Katihar: practical points

• Slots run till midnight, so a 12 o'clock surprise works. Take the 11 PM slot and ask the family to keep the main light off until the birthday person walks in.
• If you have hired a hall or a hotel banquet room in Katihar, ask when it opens to you and whether tape or pins are allowed on its walls.
• Give a landmark people know, such as Durga Sthan Chowk, the Sarvamangala Durga temple in Mirchaibari or Katihar Junction, so the decorator finds your lane fast.
• Celebrating in a rented flat or hostel near Katihar Medical College? Check the building's visitor rules before the slot.

What is included

Everything shown and listed on the design you pick, such as balloons, a backdrop or name props, plus setup at your place. The cake, food and venue stay with you unless the design says otherwise.
