What is car boot decoration?

A surprise set up inside the boot (dikki) of a car — balloons, fairy lights, a banner and your message — revealed when the boot is opened.

A car boot surprise works because nobody expects it. Your partner, friend or parent opens the boot (the dikki) to put in a bag, and finds balloons, fairy lights, hanging photos and a banner with their name. What goes into a car boot design

Every design is built from the same few elements, in different combinations:

Balloons: 10 to 30 latex or chrome balloons, sometimes with confetti balloons.
A banner or foil: Happy Birthday, Happy Anniversary, Love, I Love You, Marry Me or Welcome Baby.
Hanging photos: 8 to 10 printed photos on strings, in the designs that include them.
Fairy lights and a frill curtain: battery-operated lights that make the boot glow when opened in the evening.
Heart, star, crown or age foils depending on the occasion.

Designs by occasion

Birthday

Most car boot bookings are for birthdays. The Classic Car Boot Decoration (₹1,499) has a Happy Birthday banner, a frill curtain, 20 balloons and a fairy light. The Simple Car Boot Decor (₹1,599) adds eight hanging photos with 15 chrome balloons. For an age milestone, the Balloon Decoration in Car (₹2,299) includes age foils and 10 hanging photos, and the Surprise Car Boot Decoration (₹2,499) has 30 balloons, a Happy Birthday foil, four heart foils, an age foil and eight photos.

Romance and anniversaries

The Anniversary Car Boot Decoration (₹1,999) has an Anniversary banner, a cursive Love foil, a heart foil, confetti balloons and a frill curtain. The Surprising Love Car Decor (₹1,599) and Memorable Car Boot Decoration (₹1,799) combine a birthday banner with a Love or Love U foil, for a partner's birthday.

Planning the surprise

Decide where the car will be

The decorator comes to the car, wherever it is parked: your building's parking or basement, a house driveway or an office parking lot. Choose a spot where the boot can be open for the setup without blocking other cars. If the car is in a society or office parking, add the decorator as a visitor at the gate.

Arrange the keys

Someone must open the boot for the decorator at the start of the slot and lock the car afterwards. That's usually you, a family member or a friend. The decorator can wait up to 30 minutes. If the recipient uses the same car every day, pick a slot when they won't need it.

Time the reveal

Fairy lights show best after dark, so an evening reveal looks the most dramatic. Time slots run in one-hour windows from 8 AM to midnight. Book a slot that ends shortly before the reveal: for a 9 PM reveal after dinner, a 7 PM to 8 PM slot works well.

Choose the photos

For designs with hanging photos, pick eight to ten photos that tell a story, such as trips, old photos from when you first met, or one from each year. Share them with us after booking, well before the date, so there is time to print them.

Ideas by who you're surprising

Wife or husband: hanging photos from your years together, a Love foil and fairy lights. Reveal it on the way to a dinner.
Girlfriend or boyfriend: the photos matter most; pick ones from your first trips and dates. A Love U foil keeps it light.
Parents: an anniversary design with old family photos, revealed when they come down to the parking after a family lunch.
Friends: a birthday design with funny photos, opened in the office or college parking with the group around.
New parents: a Welcome Baby design in the car that brings the baby home from the hospital, if the car isn't needed during the slot.

Common mistakes to avoid

Forgetting the keys. The boot must be opened for the decorator; if the recipient has the only key, plan how to get it.
Parking in the sun. An afternoon in an open lot can burst balloons before the reveal.
Booking too early. A setup finished hours before the reveal spends that time in a closed car; book a slot close to the reveal.
Sending photos late. Printed photos need time; share them soon after booking.

Which car suits which design?

Hatchbacks: the boot is small, so designs with 10 to 20 balloons and photos look fuller than designs with 30 balloons.
Sedans: the boot opening is lower, so hanging photos and lights on the lid are visible as soon as it opens.
SUVs and MUVs: the most space, suitable for the fuller designs with 30 balloons and two fairy lights. Fold the last row of seats if possible.

Empty the boot before the slot. A spare wheel cover and a clean, dry floor give the decorator a better base.

Keeping it intact until the reveal

Avoid long or bumpy drives after the setup. Balloons and lights can loosen, so plan the reveal close to where the car is decorated.
A car parked in the sun gets very hot inside, and heat bursts balloons. Park in shade or a basement.
Open the boot only where it's safe to stop, not on a busy road.
After the reveal, remove the balloons before the next drive so they don't distract the driver.
