A jungle party for a six-year-old in Dalpatti

Picture a boy in Dalpatti who has drawn tigers and elephants in every notebook since the school term began. His parents book the Jungle Safari Birthday Decor for a Saturday 4 PM slot and invite his whole class. The decorator sets up the animal backdrop and balloons in the ground-floor room while the children are still at tuition. At five, a dozen children run in and head straight for the backdrop to pose for photos.

Theme party tips for Lakhisarai parents

• School traffic clogs Vidyapeeth Chowk in the early afternoon. A party at 4 PM or later gives classmates time to get home and change.
• If you pick a design with a name, such as Mermaid Birthday with Name Backdrop, type the child's name exactly as it should appear.
• In April, May and June keep the party indoors with fans running rather than on the roof.
• Using a hall instead of the house? Ask when it opens so the decorator's slot starts after the doors are unlocked.

What is included

The theme backdrop, character balloons and cut-outs shown on the design page, set up by the decorator. Return gifts, cake and snacks are not included.
