A quiet surprise in Shastri Nagar

Picture a first-floor flat in Shastri Nagar, on the Bhagalpur road side of town. Your husband turns 40 on a Thursday and leaves for work by nine. You book an 11 AM slot, and by lunch the bedroom ceiling is covered in black and silver balloons with a "Happy Birthday" banner over the bed. He comes home at seven expecting dal and rice, and finds the lights off and the cake you picked up from the bazaar waiting on the table.

Birthday Decoration in Munger: designs and prices

Planning a birthday in Munger

• Durga Puja is a big season in Munger, with the Badi Durga procession setting out from Shadipur. If the birthday falls in those days, book a few days early and give the decorator a clear route to your door.
• For a surprise at a parents' house in Mogal Bazar or Shankarpur, tell the decorator which room to use and keep that door shut until the slot ends.
• Hotel room surprises work best when the front desk knows a decorator is coming. Ask them to let the decorator in before you check in.
• Keep a phone number of someone at home in the booking, so the decorator can call if the gali is hard to find.

What is included

• Balloons, banners and props exactly as listed on your chosen design
• Setup by the decorator at your venue
• Not included: cake, snacks, candles and the venue, unless the design page names them
