A dinosaur party in a Gandhi Nagar aangan

Say your son is turning six and has talked about nothing but dinosaurs for a month. Your house in Gandhi Nagar has an open aangan, the courtyard, so you book the 3 PM slot for a dinosaur theme there. By 4:30 the backdrop and balloons are up, and his classmates arrive at five. The cake with a green dinosaur on top comes from a bakery in the bazaar, and the children spend the evening roaring at each other.

Tips for a kids' theme party in Khagaria

• On a school day, a 3 or 4 PM slot gives the decorator time to finish before children arrive after school and tuition.
• In an aangan or on a roof, ask for the backdrop against a solid wall. If rain is likely in the monsoon, move it indoors.
• Small guests pop balloons. Keep a few spare ones aside for the end of the party.
• Order a theme cake to match. The design page tells you exactly what comes with each theme, so you know what else to buy.
