Growing up in Jamshedpur means growing up with space: parks in every sector, a zoo and Jubilee Park a short drive away, and neighbours whose children are in the same school. Birthday parties here are usually big-hearted affairs, with the whole lane or building invited and cousins coming in from Adityapur or Sakchi. When a child is old enough to pick a favourite character, the party gets a theme, and the theme gets a backdrop. That's where Funtook's kids theme decoration in Jamshedpur comes in.
You choose a theme and a design on this page, book a date and time, and our decorators turn your living room, terrace or hall into the world your child asked for. Prices go from ₹1,399 for a few character balloons and a banner up to ₹8,500 for a full theme backdrop with arches, props and large cut-outs. The design page tells you exactly what arrives.
Children rarely hesitate when you ask them what they want; parents are the ones who agonise. Here is how the most popular themes in our catalogue tend to suit different children:
Soft, familiar characters work best for one- and two-year-olds. Cocomelon and Baby Shark are the songs they already know. Boss Baby gives a first birthday a playful, grown-up joke that parents enjoy. A gentle jungle theme in pastel greens, such as the Animal Theme Birthday Setup (₹1,999), photographs beautifully.
Princess and fantasy themes are favourites for girls from three to eight. Frozen brings icy blues and silver, unicorn designs bring pastels and gold, mermaid setups bring ocean colours, and Barbie is unapologetically pink.
Action themes suit energetic five- to ten-year-olds. The superhero range includes Spiderman and Batman, and the Football Theme Birthday Decoration (₹4,499) is a hit with children who spend every evening kicking a ball in the colony ground.
Dinosaurs, cars, butterflies, Mickey and Minnie, Peppa Pig, Tom and Jerry, Shinchan, rainbows and Wednesday are all in all theme decors. The Theme Dinosaur Birthday Decor (₹8,500) is our largest single theme design.

Most Jamshedpur kids' birthdays happen in one of three places, and each has its own quirks.
At home. Company quarters and bungalows in Bistupur, Kadma, Sonari and Northern Town often have generous living rooms and verandas, which comfortably fit a themed wall with an arch. Flats in Mango, Dimna Road and Pardih are smaller, so a compact setup leaves more space for children to play. Move furniture to the side the evening before, and set a sturdy table in front of the backdrop for the cake.
On the terrace. Independent houses in Telco, Golmuri, Jugsalai and Adityapur often have a roof terrace that becomes the party venue in winter. Between November and February, a terrace party in the late afternoon is lovely. In the summer months it is too hot, and during the monsoon too unpredictable, unless the terrace is covered.
In a hall. Community halls, club halls and banquet rooms across the city are popular for bigger parties. Check the hall's entry time for the decorator, how long you have it for, and whether tape, nails or helium balloons are allowed. Many halls are booked back to back on weekends, so the clean-up time matters too.
A first birthday in Jamshedpur often brings together families from very different backgrounds: a Bengali grandmother, a Bihari grandfather, cousins from Odisha, colleagues from the plant. The party usually has a puja or a blessing in the morning and a celebration in the evening. Since the baby won't remember the theme but the family will look at the photos for decades, choose soft colours, put the baby's name and a large "1" in the centre, and keep the backdrop low enough for a parent to sit in front of it with the baby. If the guest list runs past sixty or seventy people and you want more than decoration, compare the birthday organiser packages in Jamshedpur.
Jamshedpur's summer, from April to mid-June, is harsh, with afternoons well over 40°C; keep parties indoors with the cooler or AC running, and don't let balloons sit near sunny windows. The monsoon from late June to September makes outdoor setups risky, though indoor parties are perfectly comfortable. Durga Puja in October is the city's biggest festival, when families are out pandal-hopping and many travel; birthday weekends near the pujas fill quickly or clash with plans. Winter, from November to February, is the best season of the year for parties, and Christmas week has a festive feel in the city that children love.
Here is a running order that works well for a 5 pm party in a Jamshedpur hall or large living room. Begin setting up around 1:30 or 2 pm, so the decorator has finished and left by 4. Use the half-hour before guests arrive to check the name, switch on the lights and take a few photographs of the empty setup. For the first twenty minutes, while children trickle in, keep them busy with a colouring table or a bubble machine near the entrance rather than the backdrop. Around 5:30, start the games: musical chairs, passing the parcel, or a treasure hunt suited to the theme. Cut the cake at about 6, while the children are still fresh and the photos will show happy faces. Food follows, then return gifts at the door. By 7:30 most young children are tired, and parents will thank you for ending on time.
Linking a game or two to the theme makes the party feel thought through. At a jungle party, children can roar like the animal on a card they pick from a bowl, or hunt for toy animals hidden around the room. At a Frozen party, freeze dance is the obvious choice, and for a superhero party, a short cushion obstacle course with a cape at the finish line goes down well. Mermaid and Baby Shark parties suit "catch the fish" games with paper fish and a magnet on a stick. Football-mad children will happily play penalty shoot-outs with a soft ball against a sheet on the wall, which keeps them away from the backdrop. Whatever you choose, keep games on the far side of the room from the decoration.
After many parties, a few regrets come up again and again. Finishing the setup too close to the start time is the most common; in Jamshedpur, relatives often arrive early and walk straight into the decorator still working. Placing the backdrop opposite a window is another, because every photo comes out as silhouettes against the glare. Some parents choose the theme they like rather than the one the child asked for, and the child's disappointment shows in the pictures. Others forget a proper cake table and end up balancing the cake on a stool. And in small flats, a bigger design sometimes leaves no room for the children to actually play. A little planning avoids all of them.
For a party at home with twenty or thirty guests, decoration is usually one of the smaller costs; food, the cake and return gifts take more. A themed wall in the ₹2,299 to ₹2,999 range covers most home parties well. For a hall party with fifty or more guests, a larger backdrop makes sense, because a small setup can look lost in a big room. Decide the guest count and venue first, then choose the design size to match. If you're torn between two sizes, the smaller one with good lighting and a well-chosen wall usually photographs better than a larger one squeezed into a corner. Spend what you save on an entertainer or better return gifts; children remember the fun far longer than the size of the arch.
Take the birthday child alone in front of the backdrop in daylight, before anyone arrives; it's the photo that ends up framed. At the cake-cutting, position the child slightly in front of the backdrop rather than pressed against it, so the characters stay visible behind. Ask one relative to handle the camera so both parents can be in the pictures. After sunset, switch on the fairy lights and turn off the harsh overhead tube light, which makes balloon colours look flat on phone cameras. And at the end of the party, get a quick group shot of all the children with their return gifts; it becomes a record of who their friends were that year.
Birthday parties are chaotic, and small children are fast. Appoint one adult to collect burst balloon pieces immediately; latex fragments are a choking hazard for toddlers. Keep helium balloons on short ribbons and out of reach of babies. The backdrop frame isn't designed for climbing, so gently steer children away from it during games. We route fairy light wiring along the walls. And if any of the children has a latex allergy, let us know beforehand so we can use foil in the areas children touch. Finally, keep the party room's door closed to the kitchen and balcony, so excited toddlers don't wander off.
Most theme designs carry the child's name and age on a printed board. Write it exactly as it should appear, and double-check: families often discover a missing letter only in the photos. Because the board is printed for your order, it can't be changed or refunded later. For siblings or twins sharing a party, choose a design with room for two names, or call us before booking.
A theme feels complete when a few other things echo it. Ask your baker for a cake in the theme's colours. Look for character pencils, bottles or colouring books as return gifts. Build a playlist; our list of Hindi birthday songs covers the cake-cutting. For a jungle-themed party, some families add a morning visit to the zoo on the birthday itself, which the birthday child then tells every guest about. A day ahead, the decorator calls to confirm the address, the building or hall access and exactly where the setup should go. On the day, they arrive at the start of your slot with frames, balloons, a pump, standees and the printed board. Small setups take around an hour and a half; large backdrops can take close to three hours. Keep the birthday child out of the room if you want a reveal, and check the name and age before the decorator leaves.
