A promotion party in Bhauara

Imagine your husband has got his promotion letter and you want the flat in Bhauara to feel different when he gets home. You book a design for the 7 PM slot during your lunch break. The decorator sets up gold and white balloons beside the TV and around the dining table. He climbs the stairs to find the children holding a paper sign they made themselves, and the sweets from the market finally get opened.

Balloon tips for homes and halls in Madhubani

• If a wall in your home has a hand-painted Mithila painting, show the decorator which wall to use so nothing is fixed over the artwork.
• Most of Madhubani's rain, about 1,270 mm a year for the district, falls in the monsoon. From July to September, keep the setup indoors and away from open windows.
• On Shravan Mondays and at Mahashivratri, crowds head to Kapileshwar Sthan, 9 km from town. If your route crosses that road, book an earlier slot.
• In the town centre, add a landmark such as Ganga Sagar pond, Shankar Chowk or the railway station to your address.

What is included

The balloons and add-ons listed on the design page, and the decorator who sets them up. Food, cake and the venue are on your side.
