A twentieth birthday at midnight

Picture your daughter coming home from college in Darbhanga, 26 km away, the evening before her twentieth birthday. While she is at her cousin's house in Bhoop Narayan Singh Colony, you book a room surprise for the 10 PM slot. The decorator fills her bedroom with balloons, and you call her back just before midnight. She opens the door, sees the room, and her first words are a complaint that nobody told her to change clothes for the photos.

Birthday tips for Madhubani families

• Guests coming from Darbhanga, Jhanjharpur or Jaynagar often arrive by road or train. Set the slot an hour before they are due, not at the time of the cake cutting.
• Looking for birthday decoration in room ideas? Measure the wall or corner you plan to use and compare it with the design photo, especially in a small bedroom.
• If the birthday falls on a Shravan Monday or Mahashivratri and the family visits Kapileshwar Sthan first, book a slot for after you return.
• For a midnight surprise, take the last slot and arrange for someone at home to open the door.

What is included

Only what the design page lists, such as balloons, banners or props, set up by the decorator. The cake and food are arranged by you.
