Pre-Wedding Function Decoration in Hyderabad

A wedding in Hyderabad is rarely a single event. The main muhurtham may be in a convention hall, but in the days before it the family hosts a string of smaller functions: the Pellikuthuru for the bride and Pellikoduku for the groom in Telugu families, the haldi that has become popular across communities, the Manjha and mehndi evenings of Hyderabadi Muslim weddings, and the sangeet and mehndi nights of North Indian families living in the city. These are the functions where the family is closest, the colours are brightest and the photographs are the most personal.

Funtook's wedding function decoration in Hyderabad is built for those events. Prices run from ₹8,499 to ₹13,999. For that you get a styled backdrop, a dressed-up seat where the bride or groom sits through the rituals, and marigold, fabric and floral touches in yellows, greens and pinks. You choose the design online, pick a date and slot, and our decorators set it up at your home, terrace, clubhouse or farmhouse.

Designs for Each Function

Haldi and Pellikuthuru

Turmeric ceremonies need a bright, cheerful setup with a low seat, space for relatives to come up one by one, and a backdrop that looks good in daylight. For a front hall or a terrace, start with the Haldi Setup Home or the Haldi Ceremony Decoration, both ₹8,499. If the function must stay under a roof, the ₹9,999 Indoor Home Haldi Decoration is planned around ceilings and walls, and the Simple Haldi Decoration Home (₹10,999) adds more flowers and fabric. Browse all haldi decors.

Manjha and mehndi

In Hyderabadi Muslim weddings, the Manjha and mehndi are occasions for the women of the family, with songs, dholak and long evenings. The mehndi setup needs comfortable floor or low seating, good light for the mehndi artist and a backdrop that looks rich in evening photos. At ₹13,999, the Indian Mehndi Decoration is the most complete mehndi setup we offer; see the mehndi decors collection.

Haldi and mehndi on the same day

When families hold both functions on one day, often haldi in the morning and mehndi at night, a single setup in colours that suit both saves time and money. Two designs are made for this double duty: Haldi Mehndi Decoration at Home at ₹10,999 and, with a ring frame, Haldi Mehndi Ring Decoration at Home at ₹12,999.

A colourful photo wall

For a sangeet at home, a small puja or a family get-together during the wedding week, a ₹10,999 Colorful Haldi Backdrop Decoration turns one wall into the spot everyone lines up for pictures.

Planning Around the Muhurtham Calendar

Telugu wedding dates are set by the family priest from the Panchangam, and the auspicious months cluster weddings together. Weddings are commonly held in the months of Magha, Phalguna, Vaishakha, Jyeshtha, Shravana, Karthika and Margashira, which fall roughly in February and March, April to June, August, and November and December. Ashadam, around June and July, is traditionally avoided. On the most auspicious dates, thousands of weddings happen across Hyderabad on the same day, and the functions just before them fill every decorator's calendar. Muslim, Christian and Sikh weddings follow their own calendars, but many families still prefer the cooler months from November to February.

The lesson is simple: once the muhurtham is fixed, book the pre-wedding functions immediately. Waiting until the invitations are printed often means the best slots are gone. Remember too that muhurthams in Telugu weddings are sometimes late at night or before dawn, which pushes the haldi or Pellikuthuru to an early-morning start on the same or previous day; tell us the exact timing so we can plan the setup around it.

Venues: Home, Clubhouse or Farmhouse

  • Independent homes in Secunderabad, Sainikpuri, Alwal, Kompally, Uppal, LB Nagar and Dilsukhnagar: the traditional setting for a Pellikuthuru, often in the front hall or on the terrace. Tell us the floor and the staircase width.
  • Gated communities in Gachibowli, Kondapur, Kokapet, Narsingi and Tellapur: the haldi usually moves to the clubhouse or lawn. Check whether the association allows turmeric and coloured water on the lawn or deck, and book the space with enough setup time.
  • Older homes in the Old City, Malakpet, Mehdipatnam and Tolichowki: Manjha and mehndi functions are often at home, in courtyards or large halls. Some lanes are narrow, so share the nearest point a vehicle can reach.
  • Farmhouses in Moinabad, Shamshabad and along the outskirts: popular for pool-side haldis and mehndi nights. Confirm access timing with the caretaker and share a map pin; farmhouse roads can be hard to find in the dark.
  • Function halls and convention centres: if the pre-wedding function is in a hall, confirm the decorator's entry time and the hall's rules on decoration.

Hyderabad Weather and Outdoor Functions

  • November to February: the best months for terraces, lawns and farmhouses, with cool mornings and pleasant evenings.
  • March to May: the Vaishakha and Jyeshtha wedding months fall in the hottest part of the year. Hold the haldi early in the morning, before 10 am, or indoors, and keep fans on the guests rather than on the flowers.
  • June to September: monsoon showers can arrive suddenly. Outdoor setups need a shamiana or covered fallback arranged with your tent house.

Protecting the Venue From Turmeric

Haldi paste and turmeric water find their way onto everything, and marble, which most Hyderabad homes and clubhouses have, stains easily. Families who have hosted a few of these ceremonies clear sofas, rugs and cushions out of the room a night early. Around the seat they spread a large plastic sheet and put a cotton durrie over it so nobody slips. The backdrop sits a few steps back from the seat, far enough that playful cousins can't splash it before the family photos are taken. A tap or hose, buckets and a pile of old towels nearby make the clean-up quick, and most families ask guests to come in yellow so the stains don't show.

Making Room for Your Rituals

Every family's ceremony is different, and the decoration should frame the rituals rather than crowd them. For a Pellikuthuru, the bride is usually bathed with turmeric and oil by married women of the family, then dressed in new clothes, so the seat must be low and stable and the floor protected. For a Manjha, the bride is dressed in yellow and relatives apply turmeric, often with songs; keep space for the women to sit around her. For a mehndi evening, the mehndi artist needs good light and a comfortable seat beside the bride. Share the details in the order notes and we will keep the right space clear.

Colours and Styling

  • Classic haldi: marigold orange, yellow and green with white accents.
  • Pastel haldi: soft yellow, white and mint, a modern look many brides in the city now choose.
  • Mehndi: green with pink or magenta, or emerald with gold for a richer evening look.
  • Combined functions: yellow, orange, green and pink together work for both.
  • Dress codes: when the whole family wears yellow, a backdrop heavy in green and white keeps faces and outfits standing out in the pictures.
  • Night functions: warm fairy lights and brass or gold accents look far better after dark than coloured LED strips.

Photographs to Plan For

  • The bride or groom alone on the decorated seat before any turmeric, and again at the end.
  • Grandparents applying the first turmeric; keep a chair ready beside the seat.
  • All the cousins in front of the backdrop straight after the main ritual.
  • Close-ups of the finished mehndi with the flowers blurred behind.
  • A wide shot from a height, such as a staircase or balcony, showing the whole setup and the family around it.

Timeline for a Morning Haldi

  1. The week the muhurtham is fixed: reserve the design and send us the venue, the floor and how the decorator gets in.
  2. Night before: empty and cover the space; arrange a gate pass or tell the farmhouse caretaker.
  3. Setup: allow roughly three hours. A function starting at 9:30 needs the decorator in by about 6:30.
  4. First hour of the function: take the clean photographs first, then let the turmeric fly.
  5. Afterwards: stained fabric and marigolds are normally thrown away; if you want pieces saved for the mehndi that night, mention it when booking.

Music, Food and the Setup

A pre-wedding function in Hyderabad is rarely quiet. There is usually a sound system or a dholak for the women's songs, and food for relatives who stay all afternoon. Plan where these go before the decorator arrives. The speaker and the DJ's table need a power point that doesn't send cables across the photo area; a side wall is ideal. Food counters should be at the other end of the space, so plates and serving staff don't cross in front of the backdrop while photos are being taken. For a Manjha or mehndi evening at home, keep a corner of the room free where the women singing can sit together on mattresses or low seating, facing the bride. When these pieces are placed well, the decoration becomes the natural centre of the room, and the photographer gets clean shots without asking half the family to move.

Budgeting the Pre-Wedding Functions

Families planning a Hyderabad wedding usually set aside a separate budget for the functions at home, apart from the main hall. Decoration is one part of it; the others are the tent house for any shamiana and chairs, catering, the mehndi artist, a photographer and videographer, and return gifts. If money is tight, a sensible way to divide it is to spend on the function that will be photographed most. For most Telugu families that is the Pellikuthuru or haldi; for many Hyderabadi Muslim families it is the mehndi night. A combined haldi-and-mehndi design lets one setup serve both, which saves a full decoration cost and a second morning of work in the house. Whatever you choose, keep a little aside for extra flowers from a local market if relatives want to add their own touches on the day.

The Couple's Room and the Car

Our catalogue has no design labelled specifically for the wedding night. What newly married couples in the city tend to book instead is a romantic bedroom setup from anniversary decoration in Hyderabad; the Love Anniversary Room Decor is a popular pick and can be finished before the couple reach home. Flower decoration for the wedding car isn't listed online either; call us to ask. For a playful surprise later in the week, see car boot decoration in Hyderabad.

After the Wedding

Many couples come back to us for their first anniversary, a baby shower or Seemantham and later a Barasala or newborn welcome. If the wedding week also has a smaller get-together, the arches on balloon decoration in Hyderabad cost much less than a full function setup, and our article on engagement balloon decoration has ideas that suit an engagement or ring ceremony. Every service we offer is on the Funtook Hyderabad page, and photographs of real setups are on our recent work page.

Frequently Asked Questions — Wedding Special in Hyderabad

Same-day decoration is available, and it works best for smaller functions such as haldi, mehendi or a room setup. To book, pick today's date and a time slot at checkout and pay the 30% advance or the full amount. Same-day slots start at least 2 hours after you book; if you need a setup sooner, call us on +91 95086 38307 to check. Large stage or venue decor needs more planning, so book those a few days ahead.
Home and terrace haldi setups start at ₹8,499, the indoor version is ₹9,999, and fuller designs are ₹10,999. A single setup for haldi plus mehndi is ₹10,999 to ₹12,999, and the complete mehndi setup is ₹13,999.
Yes. The haldi designs are used for both. Describe the rituals in the order notes so we keep a low, steady seat for the turmeric bath and enough protected floor around it for the women giving blessings.
Yes. The mehndi setups suit both evenings, with low seating for the women of the family, bright light where the mehndi artist works, and a backdrop in greens and golds that glows in evening photos.
Yes, as long as the farmhouse lets outside decorators in. Send a map pin and the caretaker's number, and we plan extra travel time from the city.
The same week the date is fixed. On the most auspicious days, many weddings take place across Hyderabad, and the haldi and mehndi slots before them are the first to go.
Usually, yes. Ask the association whether turmeric and coloured water are allowed on the lawn or deck, cover marble floors well, and book the space about three hours before the function.
Roughly three hours before the start. For a 9:30 am haldi, expect the decorator around 6:30 am, and keep one family member available to guide them.
We have no separate wedding-night design listed, but couples commonly book a romantic bedroom setup from our anniversary designs, finished before they arrive home.
Yes. Haldi Mehndi Decoration at Home and Haldi Mehndi Ring Decoration at Home are designed in colours that suit both, so a family holding haldi in the morning and mehndi at night needs only one setup.
A cleared and covered floor, power points for lights and music, access for the decorator's vehicle, a low stable seat if you have a family one you want to use, and someone who can answer questions during the setup.
A cancellation within 24 hours of booking is refunded in full. After that a fee may apply, and printed boards are non-refundable.
