Delhi is big, busy and spread out, and the people you love are often an hour's drive away, or on the other side of the world. A sister in Dwarka, parents in Pitampura, a best friend who has just moved to Mayur Vihar, a cousin who's cleared the UPSC prelims in his rented room in Mukherjee Nagar: a balloon bouquet arriving at the door says you remembered, without anyone having to brave the Ring Road. For the many Delhi families with children in Canada, Australia, the UK or the US, it's also one of the easiest ways to be part of a birthday from ten thousand kilometres away.
A Funtook balloon bouquet in Delhi arrives ready to enjoy: printed foil balloons with the message, helium latex balloons in matching colours, curled ribbons, a weight at the base, and a card with your words. Choose one of five bouquets, a date and a delivery slot. Prices range from ₹1,499 to ₹3,299.

Delhi's addresses can be a puzzle, and a good one makes delivery quick. In colonies with blocks and pockets, such as Lajpat Nagar, Malviya Nagar, Janakpuri or Rajouri Garden, include the block, the house number, the floor and a landmark, since builder floors often share a front door and a single house number. In group housing societies in Dwarka, Vasant Kunj, Mayur Vihar and Patparganj, add the society name, tower and flat; the guard will usually confirm with the flat before letting a delivery up. In DDA flats in Sheikh Sarai, Saket, Paschim Vihar or Kalkaji, include the pocket and the flat number. In the old city around Chandni Chowk and Daryaganj, add a landmark such as a mosque, temple or well-known shop, and the recipient's phone number.
For offices in Connaught Place, Nehru Place, Jasola, Okhla, Saket or Aerocity, add the company name, floor and a reception contact. Many office towers hand deliveries over at the lobby, and the recipient comes down to collect, which often turns into a small celebration of its own in the reception area.
Delhi has one of India's largest overseas diasporas, and a great many bouquets are ordered by children in Toronto, Melbourne, London or New Jersey for parents in Delhi. Enter your parents' address and phone number, put your own number in the order notes with a line like "surprise from Simran in Toronto, call me if needed", and choose a slot in Indian time; the gap can be ten hours or more. If your parents are elderly and wary of unexpected callers, ask a neighbour or a relative nearby to be around. Then set up a video call for the moment the doorbell rings.
Delhi is a city of students: Delhi University colleges in the North and South Campuses, the coaching hubs of Mukherjee Nagar, Old Rajinder Nagar and Laxmi Nagar, and PGs across the city. Results season brings a wave of golden bouquets from proud parents. Most hostels and PGs don't let delivery staff inside, so add the student's number and ask them to collect it at the gate. A message like "Prelims cleared! Mains next. We're proud of you, beta" can carry a student through a hard month.
Maternity wards in Delhi rarely permit balloons, so address it to the family home, or to the new mother's parents' home, where many Delhi mothers stay for the first months. For a baby born in the latter half of the year, the It's a Boy or It's a Girl bouquet makes a sweet gift on the baby's first Lohri in January, too. Choose a daytime slot so the doorbell doesn't wake the baby, and prefer the foil-heavy newborn bouquets if there are toddlers or pets, since foil doesn't scatter pieces when it bursts.
Bouquet demand in Delhi follows the calendar. Lohri and Makar Sankranti in January, Valentine's Day in February, board results in spring, Raksha Bandhan, Karwa Chauth, Diwali, Christmas and New Year all bring rushes. For Karwa Chauth, a romantic bouquet waiting when the fast is broken is a thoughtful touch. For Raksha Bandhan, brothers who can't make it home often send one to their sisters. Order two or three days ahead for these dates, and a week ahead for Valentine's Day.
Printed foils stay up for days, sometimes over a week somewhere cool; the helium latex around them looks its best for roughly one day. Delhi's weather matters: in May and June, keep the bouquet in the coolest room, away from sunny windows and out of parked cars; in the humid monsoon, keep it away from open windows during storms; in winter, keep it away from room heaters, which soften latex quickly.
Type your message in English, or Hindi or Punjabi in English letters. A few that people send often: "Happy birthday, Mummy. Miss your parathas more than ever." "Oye, 18 ho gaya! Welcome to adulting." "Congratulations on your little princess. Can't wait to hold her." "Happy 35th anniversary, Mom and Dad. Thank you for everything." "Selection! Party pakki." A short note fits the card best; just make sure it's signed, so the family knows whom to thank.
Our bouquets are balloons only, and many Delhi senders pair them with something else: a cake from a much-loved bakery, a box of mithai or kaju katli from a famous sweet shop, a bunch of flowers, or a gift hamper. Ask each shop to deliver in the same hour as the bouquet, so the surprise arrives together rather than in pieces through the day. For a parent's milestone, a Celebration bouquet with their favourite sweets is a combination that rarely fails, and adding a line from the grandchildren to the card message makes it even more special. Mention their names, so grandparents know exactly who thought of them.
Once it's through the door, the bouquet's enemies are heat, draughts and sharp edges. A shaded corner works best, well clear of the ceiling fan, the cooler, the AC louvres and, come December, the room heater. Anchor the weight to something sturdy if a toddler or a dog is around. After a day the latex will start to sag; trim it off and let the foils carry on alone, which they'll happily do for a week. Deflated, a "Welcome Baby" or "Happy 60th" foil folds flat into an album.
A vague builder-floor address without the floor number is the most common cause of delay. Choosing a slot when nobody is home is the next. Sending balloons to a hospital ward, ordering too late for Valentine's Day or Karwa Chauth, and forgetting to sign the card round out the list. A quick check with someone in the family before ordering avoids most of them.
Look at a year of bouquet orders in Delhi and the city's life is written in them. January brings Lohri bouquets for new babies and newlyweds, and Republic Day week is surprisingly busy with birthdays. February belongs to Valentine's Day. March and April bring board results and appraisal-season promotions. May and June, with the summer holidays, are full of children's birthdays and welcome-home bouquets for relatives visiting from abroad. August has Raksha Bandhan and Independence Day. October and November, the festive season, bring Karwa Chauth, Diwali and Bhai Dooj, plus a flood of congratulations as the wedding season begins. December ends the year with Christmas, New Year and winter birthdays. Through all of it, new babies and birthdays make up the largest share.
Many Delhi families have a parent in government service, the armed forces, a bank or a public-sector company, and a retirement is a big day. Have the gold-and-white bouquet reach the house an hour after they get back from the office farewell, with a message such as "Thirty-five years of service. Now it's golf and grandchildren, Papa", makes the evening complete. For a colleague moving abroad, the Celebration bouquet at their farewell dinner gives everyone a photo moment. For a full retirement party at home or in the office, our corporate and farewell designs cover it.
Delhi stretches a long way, and some addresses need a little extra detail. For Delhi Cantonment and the defence colonies, include the full unit or quarter address and a phone number, since entry can be checked at the gate. For the farmhouse belt around Chhatarpur and Sainik Farms, send a map pin and the caretaker's number. For newer parts of Dwarka and Rohini, where sectors are large, add the sector, pocket and a nearby landmark such as a school or metro station.
In the first weeks after a birth, many Delhi families keep visitors to a minimum, especially in winter, when colds spread easily, and on days when the air is poor. A bouquet lets you share the joy without adding to the crowd. Send it in the late morning, write your name clearly on the card, and if you'd like to visit later, ask the family when suits them in your message rather than turning up. If the baby's first Lohri is coming in January, a second bouquet on the day is a lovely follow-up.
Team leads often send bouquets to colleagues who are celebrating while working from home or on leave, such as a new baby, a work anniversary or a promotion announced on a video call. Use the colleague's home address and number, choose a daytime slot, and sign the card from the whole team. It turns an online "congratulations" into something they can actually hold, and usually earns a delighted photo in the team chat.
Pick a slot when the recipient, or someone keeping the secret, will definitely be home. For a midnight birthday, deliver in the evening to a family member who'll hide the bouquet until twelve. For offices, the middle of the afternoon is calmest. If the delivery crosses the city in the evening rush, allow for it; a bouquet going from South Delhi to Rohini at six is a long trip. When in doubt, a late-morning or early-afternoon slot is the most reliable, for traffic and for finding people at home.
Hosting yourself? Then a decoration may be better value than a bouquet; a full bedroom from our room surprise designs begins at ₹1,299. For new parents, see newborn welcome decoration in Delhi; for a party, birthday decoration in Delhi; for couples, anniversary decoration in Delhi; and a reveal in the boot is covered on car boot decoration in Delhi.
Your order confirmation shows the day and the delivery window. The bouquet is assembled and filled on the day, so the helium is fresh. If the address is tricky or a guard needs a name, our delivery person rings the number you provided. A bouquet is never left on a doormat; if the door stays shut, we ring you and decide together what to do.
